This totals rectangular areas only. For an L-shaped room, split it into rectangles and add them as separate entries.

How this calculator works

Each room is converted to feet, multiplied to get its area, and multiplied by its quantity. The areas are then summed and converted to the other units.

room area = length (ft) × width (ft) × quantity
total     = sum of all room areas
sq yards  = total ÷ 9
sq meters = total × 0.09290304

Assumptions

  • Every room is rectangular. Split L-shaped rooms into rectangles and add them as separate entries.
  • The quantity field is for identical rooms, such as several same-size bedrooms.
  • The result is measured area and does not include a waste allowance.

Worked example

A 12 ft by 10 ft bedroom is 120 sq ft, and a 14 ft by 12 ft living room is 168 sq ft. The total is 288 sq ft.
